Electric Upright Bass Overview
What are electric upright bass? The electric upright bass are also called stick bass or EUB (an abbreviation of its name). It is electric thus it is an electronic instrument. It is another version of a particular bass that is double bass.
The electric upright bass is fashioned in a way that it retains the characteristics of the double bass instrument. Double bass instuments are lightweight instruments thus it is easy maneuver and carry anywhere. The only difference between the two instruments is that the EUB or electric upright bass does create a unique sound since it electronically amplified.
Just like other earlier instruments, the EUB is designed to fit in to the player’s body. The EUB is designed in a way that it could rest comfortably against the players knees or a part of the player’s body.
Some players may lean it against their body but EUBs do have s stand to keep it standing on its own making it easier for the player to bow the instrument.
Players can either play the EUB when sitting or standing. It depends much on the players height. Sometimes when the EUB is smaller than a standing player, the player will have a pain in the neck since he has the bow down to the EUB. It gets quite difficult around the hips if you have a bad sitting posture when playing the EUB.
